RLIC's infrastructure and supporting facilities ensure the potential of Qatar's natural resources is maximised through successful exploration, storage and export. Today RLIC is the workplace of approximately 115,000 people. The Ras Laffan Emergency and Safety College, established under an agreement between Qatar Petroleum and Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service, is the first of its kind in the Middle East, and includes training facilities for industrial, hazardous materials, municipal, rescue and emerge​ncy medical services. The same level of care and responsibility is taken with staff accommodation and support services. Modern medical facilities are available to all staff and contractors and there are comprehensive 24-hour emergency response, fire, safety and security services.
